Bangor International Airport Millinocket (BANG) is a small regional airport located in Millinocket, in the U.S. state of Maine. The airport serves Bangor and surrounding areas and has one runway designated 17/35 with a asphalt surface measuring 2,000 by 75 feet (610 x 23 m). It is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a "general aviation" facility.
The airport opened in 1940 as the Bangor Municipal Airport and was renamed Bangor International Airport in 1961. In 1990 the airport became a public safety asset as part of the Federal Aviation Administration's Air Traffic Management Program. BANG functioned as an uncontrolled reliever airport for Portland International Jetport until its closure in 1998 due to low usage levels. The Maine Department of Transportation and Development managed the airport until 2009 when it was transferred to the Federal Aviation Administration. BANG continues to serve general aviation operations including charters, air taxi, and private aircraft flights.
